Marvin Gaye to reissue infamous 'divorce' album

'Here, My Dear' reissue will include bonus disc

Marvin Gaye is set to reissue his 1978 'divorce' album ’Here, My Dear’ on January 14.

The album chronicled his separation from Anna Gordy - the title was reportedly a reference to a ruling which dwclared he had to give a share of the profits from the album to his ex.

Disc one of the album includes a re-mastered version of the original double albm and a new mix of the ’Dream Of A Lifetime’ track ’Ain’t It Funny (How Things Turn Around’) by bassist Bootsy Collins.

The second disc offers a re-sequencing of ’Here, My Dear’ made from Gaye’s demo vocals and unused instrumental tracks from the period, reports Reuters.

The artists and producers who crafted the Disc 2 material were asked to not used overdubs and only work with the original multi-track tapes.

The Roots' ?uestlove got to grips with ’Sparrow’, while Prince Paul did a version of ’Everybody Needs Love’. Other contributions include Mocean Worker, Easy Mo Bee, [B}Leon Ware[/B] and Salaam Remi.

According to legend Gaye was convinced that Motown would never push an album critical of Anna Gordy, who was the sister of the company founder Berry Gordy Jr. As a result, Gaye did all he could to alienate the label never giving it a chance to promote the album properly. It soon went out of print.
