Damon Albarn joins Massive Attack for surprise live collaboration
Gorillaz chief takes the stage in London with the Bristolian collective
Damon Albarn made a surprise appearance at Massive Attack's London show tonight (February 11).
The Gorillaz man took to the stage at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo during the encore, to perform recent EP track 'Splitting The Atom' with the band and their regular collaborator Horace Andy.
Thanking him for his collaboration Massive Attack's 3D then praised the singer for his part in the band's new album 'Heligoland', declaring: "It's my great pleasure to introduce Damon Albarn, he was partly responsible for the latest record - thanks a lot mate."
They then all performed 'Saturday Comes Slow' with Albarn taking over lead vocals, as he does on the album.
The surprise appearance comes two months ahead of Albarn's scheduled live comeback - he is due to take the stage in April as Gorillaz headline the 2010 Coachella festival.
