The Geordies complete sessions ahead of US dates…

MAXIMO PARK have finished recording their debut album, which is due out in May.

The Newcastle five-piece completed sessions with Babyshambles and Bloc Party producer Paul Epworth before mixing took place in New York with Rick Rubin’s personal engineer Rich Costey.

"It was good to finish the album and be working with a hungry producer because we're a hungry young band and we've managed to capture the energy of the band live," said singer Paul Smith. "We think it's faultless pop record and it pushes pop music in a slightly different direction."

Ahead of the album’s release, Maximo Park will be heading out on their first North American dates.

A tour in March is being finalised, although the band have confirmed they will join The Bravery at a poolside party this year’s South By SouthWest music festival in Austin, before flying to Tokyo for their first Japanese date on March 25.
