NME editor Conor McNicholas will be one of the guest stars on MTV2’s end of year special later this month.

Host Zane Lowe will use the show, which airs at 8pm on December 18, to survey the wreckage of 2005.

Joining him will be Conor, radio's Annie Mac, Toby from Transgressive Records and rockfeedback.com, and Paul Smith from Maximo Park, if he's done his Christmas shopping in time.

Zane and his helpers will tackle the tricky, weighty issues of who was the Best Live Act of the year, who made the Best Album , the Best Single and the Best Video.

Tune in to see if MTV2's wise men are in seasonal harmony over the winners of 2005 - or whether the toys will be thrown out the manger.
