Maximo Park singer Paul Smith has branded My Chemical Romance "hysterical".
Speaking as part of MTV2's end-of-year special, which airs at 8pm tonight (December 18), the frontman reveals his opinions on the American rockers.
"They're hysterical," he said. "You just think, 'This guy (singer Gerard Way)'s taken it to another level'".
During the show Smith gave the thumbs-up to Beck for his promo to single 'E-Pro', saying: "My favourite video of the year, it's quite eerie and quite fun."
Surveying the music of 2005, the Maximo Park mainman also dealt a sideswipe at Gorillaz for their smash single 'Dare'.
"I don't get it," he explained. "I don't have any passion for it to be honest."
NME editor Conor McNicholas will be one of the guest stars on MTV2’s end-of-year special, which will be hosted by Zane Lowe.
Joining him will be radio's Annie Mac and Toby from Transgressive Records and rockfeedback.com.
Zane and his helpers will tackle the tricky, weighty issues of who was the Best Live Act of the year, who made the Best Album, the Best Single and the Best Video.
Tune in tonight (December 18) at 8pm to see if MTV2's wise men are in seasonal harmony over the winners of 2005 - or whether the toys will be thrown out the manger.
If you miss the first showing of the programme, it will be repeated on Christmas Day at 8pm.
