Maximo Park poked fun at Scissor Sisters during their performance at the Oxegen Festival today (July 7).

Singer Paul Smith said that the band were pleased the punters had come to see them on Stage 2/ NME stage.

After a storming version of ’Graffiti’, Smith said: “The sun is shining I believe. Thanks for watching us and not the Scissor Sisters or something… It’s not a competition.”

Smith said how he was pleased to return to the Irish festival, he said: “I don’t want to turn into a cheese ball but this is very nice.”

The band also addressed the reception that greeted their new album ’Our Earthly Pleasures’ Smith said: “That’s from our mature, slow, second record!”
