Maximo Park to launch Glastonbury on new stage Maximo Park Tickets
Paul Smith and co will be first band to play new William Green area

Maximo Park have been announced as the band to officially launch this year's Glastonbury festival.
The band will play the new William Green area of the site at 4pm (BST) on the Thursday (June 25) of the festival.
Due to space limitations the first 1,500 fans who head to the area for the show will gain entry to the performance. However, screens and speakers will be erected around the site to allow those all around the rest of the site chance to see the opening act play.
Maximo Park also play Glastonbury's Other Stage on the Saturday of the festival (June 27).
Maximo Park singer Paul Smith said in a statement: "Glastonbury's still a festival that takes chances, as proven by Jay-Z's triumphant appearance last year, so it's an honour for us to be the first band on, in such intimate surroundings.
"It's also an excuse to hang out and watch loads of brilliant music 'til we play the Other Stage on Saturday!"
The William Green area of the site is named after Glastonbury chief Michael Eavis' grandfather, who was the first person to plant crops at Worthy Farm. It is located on the road from the Pyramid Stage to the Acoustic Field.
The news comes as Maximo Park have revealed that their latest album - 'Quicken The Heart' - is at Number One in the midweek UK album charts. However, the band will have to withstand a late rush from Green Day, who release their '21st Century Breakdown' album this Friday (May 15).
