Maximo Park frontman Paul Smith has revealed that he has had to enlist a special tailor after straining the crotch of his suits.

The singer's high-octane stage antics, which regularly include jumps and scissor kicks, had meant that the suit he had been wearing for gigs was fraying between the legs.

Smith got a tailor to reinforce the crotch area on his suits to ensure there are no embarrassing wardrobe malfunctions.

"I'm working with a guy called Jonathan Quearney," Smith told NME.COM. "He used to work on Savile Row and he’s got his own place now on Windmill Street in Fitzrovia."

Quearney, who Smith thanked in the liner notes to the recently-released 'Quicken The Heart', explained just how he made Smith's suits high kick-proof.

"The layers inside the suit have large loose stitches so Paul can jump around like a lunatic and not rip the clothes apart," he explained.

Jonathan Quearney is offering one NME.COM reader a personal fitting in his London store for a free tailor-made shirt worth over £150. Head to NME.COM/WIN to enter.
