Maximo Park teamed up with a brass band for their set on the Main Stage at Leeds Festival tonight (August 28) - watch video footage of the band walking on stage by clicking on the right.

Singer Paul Smith introduced the trumpet-playing troupe, claiming he expected them to go down well in the northern setting.

"We're a quintessentially British band, so we thought a brass band would be the sort of thing the people of Yorkshire would appreciate," he told the crowd, before the brass band joined in on 'The Kids Are Sick Again', 'Acrobat' and 'Going Missing'.

The band played to a large and enthusiastic crowd during the set, which saw Smith divulge the inspiration behind a number of tunes.

"I remember coming up for the lyric while playing five-a-side football, looking at a tower block and thinking about all the people going out to a disco," he explained before 'A Cloud Of Mystery'.

Meanwhile, he said 'Girls Who Play Guitars' was about a "really bad club on a boat in Newcastle".

The set saw the band draw from all three of their albums, with hits such as 'Graffiti' and 'I Want You To Stay'.

Smith rounded off the set by stating the band had had a "cracking time".
