Meat Loaf abandons gig due to 'stress'

Singer cuts short Newcastle show

Meat Loaf abandons gig due to 'stress'

Meat Loaf abandoned a show last night (October 31) due to "stress".

The singer was playing Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena when he stopped the show midway through.

He launched into a performance of ’Paradise By The Dashboard Light’, then abruptly stopped, thanked the audience and left the stage.

Shortly afterwards an announcement was made saying that the singer had been taken ill.

A spokeswoman from Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena said that he had been forced to curtail the gig due to an inflammation of the larynx.

His tour promoter Andrew Miller has refuted claims that he told the audience it would be his final gig.

Miller told BBC News: “I’ve spoken to his doctor and it’s clear it’s just exhaustion and stress. It’s not his last ever gig, that’s for sure. He’ll be fine. We hope that 24 hours rest will get him better.”
