Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has confirmed that the band have completed the backing tracks for their ninth studio album.
During an interview at Belgium's Rock Werchter Festival, Ulrich confirmed that Metallica are aiming to release the follow-up to 2003's 'St Anger' in February 2008.
"It doesn't sound like 'St Anger' to me," he told Studio Brussel. "It's a little early to kind of put in a soundbite exactly. But it doesn't sound anything like 'St Anger'.
"It's probably a little more dynamic, and a little more varied, and it has lots of different nutty Metallica stuff on it."
The band are currently in the midst of touring the European festival circuit. They're set to play Live Earth at London's Wembley Stadium on July 7.
