Black Tide opened the Download Festival today (May 13) with a set bursting with heavy metal classics.

The Miami-based teen metallers got the weekend's action at Donington Racetrack to an uproarious start, paying tribute to metal legends through the ages on the Main Stage.

The band covered both 'Hit The Lights' by Metallica and 'The Prowler' by Iron Maiden, both previous Download headliners.

Co-frontman Zakk Sandler was up for the challenge, chastising the crowd: "You motherfuckers, this is the most excited you're going to be all day!"

And he clearly won them over, since the band left the stage to chants of "Black Tide!"

Black Tide played:

'Shockwave'
'Show Me The Way'
'Hit The Lights'
'Warriors Of Time'
'Light From Above'
'The Prowler'
