Glasvegas slight favourites to beat Metallica to Number One

Find out the odds for 'Glasvegas' and 'Death Magnetic'

Bookmakers Ladbrokes have made Glasvegas slight favourites to hit the Number One slot in the UK Album Charts on Sunday (September 14) with their self-titled debut album, ahead of Metallica's new release 'Death Magnetic'.

The bookmaker puts 'Glasvegas' at 4/7, while 'Death Magnetic' is close behind at odds of 5/4 to hit the top spot.

The news comes despite the fact that Metallica's 'Death Magnetic' appeared in the UK two days earlier than planned.

Shops began selling the album from yesterday (September 10), despite the worldwide release being set for tomorrow (September 12).

This has led some to speculate that the band's camp may be worried about missing out on the top spot.

In all fairness, the Glasvegas album has been out all week whereas Metallica's album has been out in SOME shops both yesterday and today, and most fans didn't even know this. Tomorrow is the official release date for the Metallica album.I expect Glasvegas will be number one this week and Metallica next week.

I just hope Glasvegas beat them. I am never interested in charts but i am this week. They (metallica) think they have a devine right to our number 1 and i just hope Glasvegas trounce them.

amusingly hmv, who sold the album early, had their servers stolen on wednesday night and have been unable to register their sales to the chart. They'd sell the majority in the country so it looks likely that Glasvegas will get a number 1 by default.

I hate Metal music with a passion. Plus I bought the Glasvegas album today, so heres hoping James Allan and the lads see of Hetfield and his horrible horrible band with a horrible horrible voice and horrible horrible "death" guitar.

I'm an older fan of music so been around as long as Metallica and think they are really good.....what do I think of Glasvegas? I absolutely am in awe of them! Its been a lot of years since I have been so excited about a band and their music and this debut album is a piece of art, absolute brilliance and it truelly deserves a number 1 spot!

You know, to be fair, I have not heard Glasvegas' album, but most of your comments are not very intelligent. Metallica have crafted a very good metal album and have been around for a long time... But what does number 1 mean? Who care how many albums you sold week one. Some of the best albums ever did not debut at number 1. GlassvegasGregg, your comment has no reasoning. No one ever said they have the right to number one, especially not them. But the worst is Sounded who has obviously not heard the album but just hates the type of music. "Death guitar"? Maybe you should think a little before you hit submit. Don`t ever tell me that Metallica doesn't "deserve" number one. They have been making music for 25 years that people love and enjoy. If they are number 2 so be it, but there is no way that they haven't earned number 1 if the get it.

I seriously cant understand why glasvegas would be favourites to overthrow metallica.why the fuck does everyone shun metal bands!?grr its so annoying! metal is my favourite genre and its nice to see a good decent band who can actually make music kill off the other fucking garbage that fills the airwaves today!damn right they deserved number 1! and im glad.fuck glasvgas they're shit i saw them in coventry and at reading and wasnt impressed. So all you people who think metal is a load of crap, go and actually listen to some and realise it has millions of fans worldwide and you dont always win!!!METALLICA WOOO! :D
