Festival-goers climb tent poles during festival set

MGMT's riotous set was halted for 10 minutes after a host of fans scaled the metal towers in the Pet Sounds arena tonight (July 13).

One female fan climbing the whole way to the top of the tent, a height of roughly 20-25 metres.

Following '4th Dimensional Transition', roughly 20 fans began to scale the various towers supporting the big top tent, with at least ten people climbing one tower near the front of the stage.

Not noticing what was happening, the band continued with 'Pieces of What' before the band stopped and frontman Andrew VanWyngarden told the crowd: "Well I guess they're going to stop the show if you guys don't get down."

The band then exited the stage as organisers called on the festival goers to climb down.

With the tent packed to capacity tent, and many more fans watching from outside, the climbers were booed until they returned to earth.

However one female fan wearing wellies climbed the whole way up the tower to touch the top of the roof.

Throughout her climb members of the audience looked on, as she appeared to slip at various intervals.

Organisers again urged her to come down over the PA in order to allow the show to continue.

When she complied, the band re-took the stage driving the already revved-up crowd to ecstatically dance to the likes of 'Electric Feel', 'Time To Pretend' and set-closer 'Kids'.

Earlier in the set VanWyngarden had told the crowd, "This is the last show on this leg of our tour and we're so delighted to be because there's no better place to play.

So I hope you're ready to rock more, 'cause that's what you and we are here to do."

MGMT played:

'Of Moons, Birds and Monsters'
'Weekend Wars'
'The Handshake'
'4th Dimensional Transition'
'Pieces Of What'
'Electric Feel'
'Time To Pretend'
'Kids'
