Blikk Fang, the band formed as a side project by members of MGMT and Of Montreal, have approached Kanye West and Elliott Smith collaborator Jon Brion to help record their debut album.
The band, who consist of MGMT's Andrew VanWyngarden and Of Montreal's Kevin Barnes, originally announced the collaboration in March, even streaming two songs online.
Now, Barnes has told Rolling Stone that preparations to record and release a full-length Blikk Fang album are in motion.
"Me and Andrew VanWyngarden from MGMT have a project together I really want to get off the ground in 2009," he said. "I've been talking to Jon Brion about maybe collaborating as well."
Barnes revealed that he wants to work on the album as soon as his and VanWyngarden's schedules allow the duo to get together.
He said: "We've actually created about 20 minutes of music, but that was the early part of last year. We've both been travelling like crazy so it's hard to get together. The stuff we've done so far is sort of a soulful prog. It's probably gonna be a pretty schizophrenic, crazy album."
