MGMT's Andrew VanWyngarden: 'I want to talk to animals at V Festival' – video

MGMT's Andrew VanWyngarden gave an exclusive video interview to NME.COM at V Festival over the weekend (August 22-23) in which he revealed his plan to have a chat with some of the wildlife at the festival.

The US band played at the Stafford leg of the bash on Saturday (August 22) then in Chelmsford last night, where they played with a cut-out figure of Oasis Liam Gallagher on stage to mark the headliners' cancellation.

"There's really nice woods around here, there's elk and goats," VanWyngarden said in the video interview, which you can watch on the right. "The animals are over there in the fields, I'm going to go and try talk to them. I think we're going to try and rock their faces off later."

The guitarist/singer also talked about the band's forthcoming second album, tentatively titled 'Congratulations', which they have been recording in New York.

"We set out to do it really fast, originally," he explained. "Then we realised we don't really work fast. We work well, but it takes a while."

He added that the duo were feeling very inspired for the new album.

He revealed: "A couple of the songs were going through my head while we were touring for a while. So they're kind of touring-inspired songs. Some of them were Ben [Goldwasser, his MGMT bandmate] and I sitting down in our room, coming up with something. It feels really natural.

"We're actually in the mood to write more songs. We're going to try and write more and make it a combination of lots of different times, without it taking too long on it."
