MGMT have revealed that Paul McCartney hasn't been in touch about collaborating with the group, despite admitting he'd like to work with the band.

Speaking to SpinnerMusic.co.uk, frontman Andrew VanWyngarden explained that they would still be interested in heading into the studio with the former Beatle.

"We did play a show with him [McCartney] last summer at New York park, which was really cool," he said. "But nothing has really come of the collaboration part of it."

He added: "We still would really like to do that. We like Paul McCartney's songwriting abilities and musical sensibilities. His bass playing is unreal - he is definitely my favourite bass player."

As previously reported, Paul McCartney explained how he "wanted to work on some more dancey stuff with MGMT", but added that "it has to happen organically".
