MGMT are set to release their new song 'Alien Days' as a Record Store Day single.
The song will be released on April 20 as a limited edition cassette single. It will also come with a download code, reports Pitchfork.
Andrew VanWyngarden of the band recently said that 'Alien Days' is about "that feeling when a parasitic alien is in your head, controlling things". 'Alien Days' was debuted at a live show in April 2012.
The song will feature on MGMT's third studio album, which will reportedly come out in June of this year. The LP is the follow-up to 'Congratulations', and was recorded over the past year in a cabin in Buffalo, New York.
Speaking about the record, Ben Goldwasser said: "We're not trying to make music that everyone understands the first time they hear it".
VanWyngarden added of their record label: "There's no illusion on their part that we're going to turn into a Top 40 band. That's kind of comforting."
MGMT recently announced details of a North American tour, which will start at Penn State University Park on April 26, finishing up with a slot at the Bunbury Music Festival in Cincinnati on July 13.
