MGMT's brand new song 'Alien Days' has appeared online – scroll down to listen.

Taken from a cassette single produced by the band for Record Store Day, which took place on Saturday (April 20), 'Alien Days' is the first taste of the band's forthcoming third album.

The band's Andrew VanWyngarden recently said that 'Alien Days' is about "that feeling when a parasitic alien is in your head, controlling things". 'Alien Days' was debuted at a live show in April 2012, and the song will feature on MGMT's third studio album, which will reportedly come out in June of this year. The LP is the follow-up to 'Congratulations', and was recorded over the past year in a cabin in Buffalo, New York. Speaking about the record, Ben Goldwasser said: "We're not trying to make music that everyone understands the first time they hear it."

For a full celebration of Record Store Day, check out this week's special issue of NME, and find Frank Turner, Dave Grohl, Johnny Marr, Bat For Lashes and The Strokes' Julian Casablancas and many more revealing what records they were listening to at the most important times of their lives.
