Manic Street Preachers and MGMT lead bumper week for new releases

Drake, The Naked And Famous and Cloud Control also release new albums

MGMT and Manic Street Preachers lead the pack in a bumper week for new albums, which are all released today (September 16).

The psychedelic duo release their self-titled third album 'MGMT' on Columbia, while Welsh trio Manic Street Preachers release their 'acoustic' album 'Rewind The Film'.

Recorded in the band's own studio in Cardiff, Rockfield in Monmouthshire and Hansa in Berlin, 'Rewind The Film' features guest appearances from Lucy Rose (on 'This Sullen Welsh Heart') Cate Le Bon (on '4 Lonely Roads') and Richard Hawley (on the title track). "[If] this record has a relation in the Manics back catalogue, it’s probably the sedate coming of age that was 'This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours'," the band said in a statement.

Also out today are the new album by Elton John, 'The Diving Board', and the second album from Australia's Cloud Control, 'Dream Cave'. New Zealand's The Naked And Famous release 'In Rolling Waves', while Drake issues his new record 'Nothing Was The Same'.

Avicii's 'True', Bill Callahan's 'Dream River', Jack Johnson's 'From Here To Now To You', Placebo's 'Loud Like Love' and Sebadoh's 'Defend Yourself' also hit the shelves today. American country artist Chris Young will be hoping to repeat the success of Arctic Monkeys in yesterday's chart with an album of the same name – Young's 'AM' is released today.

Meanwhile in singles releases, Sky Ferreira releases her latest track, 'You're Not The One', Chvrches put out 'The Mother We Share' and Tom Odell goes head to head with Elton John, who he supported at London's Roundhouse last week. Odell releases 'Grow Old With Me' as Elton releases 'Home Again'.
