MIA appeals for Oprah's help
She asks her to draw attention to Sri Lanka bombings
In a post on her Myspace page, the singer reveals she met the TV superstar on Tuesday (May 5) at an event honouring Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of the year:
“SHE SQUEEEEZED MY HAND SO HARD , I WAS CONVINCED SHE CARED,” she blogged. “MICHELLE OBAMA GAVE A SPEECH AND THERE WAS MAD SECRET SERVICE IN THE AIR SO I DIDNT GET TO THROW A PAPER PLANE AT HER SAYING " STOP THE BOMBING OF THE TAMILS IN SRI LANKA"
A camp created to shelter 150,000 civilians was bombed earlier this year by the Sri Lanka air force. The civilians were feeling the fighting between the army and the Tamil Tigers.
“I WASNT SURE ABOUT MY INFLUENCE BUT........IF I DO HAVE ANY INFLUENCE, I WISH I COULD GET THE MEDIA TO SPOTLIGHT THIS,” MIA wrote, before appealing to Oprah for her help.
“OPRAH CAN YOU DO SOMETHING BOUT THESE CAMPS PLEEEEEEEEEEASE?”
