MIA has eschewed traditional lettering by naming her forthcoming third album '///Y/' - which apparently spells out Mya in code.

The announcement was made on the blog section on the website of her record label, Neet Recordings, Neetrecordings.com/blog.

It was also revealed on the site that the album will be released on July 12 in the UK, and a day later in the USA (two weeks after its previsouly-scheduled release date).

'///Y/' will be the follow-up to her 2007 album 'Kala'.

Get this week's issue of NME, on UK newsstands nationwide from tomorrow (May 12), for a exclusive cover story interview with MIA, plus her reaction to the controversy surrounding the video for her new song 'Born Free'.
