Michael Jackson has avoided an appearance in the London High Court by making a settlement in principle with Sheikh Abdulla Bin Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa, who was suing the singer for £4.7million.

Until the pair agreed to settle the singer had been scheduled to appear in court today (November 24) over a dispute between him and the sheikh, who claimed Jackson breached terms of a contract.

The sheikh said he had an agreement with Jackson which would see the production of an album, stage play and autobiography.

Jackson claimed that money he had been given by the sheikh was a gift, reports BBC News.

Jackson had been about to board a plane to fly to London when he was told to postpone the trip as the settlement in principle was agreed.
