A judge has awarded Michael Jackson's mother, Katherine, temporary guardianship of his three children.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff gave his ruling today (June 29) when Jackson's mother appeared in court to make her request to continue looking after her grandchildren.
Another hearing is set for August 3 to determine whether she can become the children's permanent guardian, reports the Associated Press.
She also filed a petition to become the administrator of the children's estates, but the judge refrained from granting that request.
Jackson, who died suddenly after going into cardiac arrest last week, left behind three children, Michael Joseph Jackson Jr, 12, Paris Michael Katherine Jackson, 11, and Prince Michael II, 7.
