No public memorial will be held at Neverland Ranch for Michael Jackson this weekend, the family has said in a statement.
News reports said the singer was to be transported to his former home tomorrow (July 2), with a public viewing slated for Friday and a private memorial for Sunday.
But according to most recent reports, the family were unable to secure the exemption to have the burial on the private property north of Santa Barbara, CA.
"Contrary to previous news reports, the Jackson family is officially stating that there will be no public or private viewing at Neverland," said the statement, according to People.com. "Plans are underway regarding a public memorial for Michael Jackson, and we will announce those plans shortly."
The company that bought the ranch in May 2008 had tried to get the exemption, but was unable to in time for this weekend.
