Michael Jackson's autopsy will take longer than expected

LA coroner says process will take two more weeks

The Los Angeles County coroner's office has announced that it will take longer than expected to conduct a complete autopsy on Michael Jackson's body.

Immediately following Jackson's death on June 25, a coroner's spokesperson announced preliminary results in the autopsy, stating there were no signs of foul play or trauma to the body. He also confirmed that Jackson was taking some unspecified prescription medications, adding that further tests were needed to determine which ones.

Chief Coroner Ed Winter announced yesterday (July 16) that the process is now expected to take two more weeks. He declined to explain the reason for the delay, reports the Associated Press.

The toxicology reports should help shed light on which drugs Jackson had in his system when he died, and if they played a part in his death.
