Michael Jackson's mother was awarded permanent custody of his three children during a hearing in Los Angeles today (August 3).
Katherine Jackson, 79, will now be responsible for 12-year-old Prince Michael, 11-year-old Paris Michael and Prince Michael II, 7. She has been granted monthly stipends to help with the expense of raising the youngsters.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff gave his rulings despite an objection made by Michael Jackson's long-time dermatologist, Arnold Klein. Although Klein's objections were not specific, his attorney said that he was concerned about the children's education and day-today parenting issues, reports the Associated Press.
Katherine Jackson's appointment as their guardian is in line with the pop star's wishes, who named his mother the person he wanted to look after them in a will he drew up in 2002.
