Michael Jackson: ''Thriller' was crap and sucked'

Newly-released interview reveals how album was saved

Michael Jackson believed that initial mixes of his seminal 1982 album 'Thriller' were "crap" and "sucked", it has been revealed in a newly-unearthed interview.

In the interview from '80s, published by the News Of The World, the late singer revealed that he was considering scrapping the Quincy Jones-produced album before being inspired by watching children play to salvage it.

"'Thriller' sounded so crap. The mixes sucked," he said. "When we listened to the whole album, there were tears... I just cried like a baby. I stormed out of the room and said, 'We're not releasing this'."

Jackson went on to explain that a visit to watch some school kids helped him turn the album around. "One of the maintenance crew in the studio had a bicycle and so I took it and rode up to the schoolyard," he said. "I just watched the children play. When I came back I was ready to rule the world. I went into the studio and I turned them songs out."

The tape isn’t the only interview to be unearthed since the singer's death in June. Recently interview tapes featuring Jackson and Rabbi Shmuley Boteach revealed that the singer said he believed he could have changed Adolf Hitler if he could have met him.

"Thou shalt not think that any male over the age of 30 that plays with a child that is not their own is a peadophile... Some people are just nice."

I think everyone has to look at all this with an open mind and some compassion.MJ was very heartfelt in the tapes, and he had a rough life and dealt with things we could never understand. I found it to be very sincere when he spoke of children. People need to hear this rather then trying to look for something evil that is not there. All one has to do is look in his eyes and at his face to know he was in pain and that was it, that was what made him seem strange to us, was watching a man fall apart in front our eyes with no understanding for the fact he was only human. He was not a molester, and too much proof is out there if one took the time to research it.MJ deserves respect! He sacrificed his regular life to entertain us and love us! What's wrong with that!! Also, I agree, Hitler was a genius, an evil genius, as opposed to a good well meaning genius, there's a difference and that is what MJ was trying to say! And stop being media mongers for once and see the truth!

Have any of you actually read up on the paedophile charges beyond Sun headlines? Seriously folks, even a quick perusal of the wikipedia page will reveal that all was not as it appeared. The evidence certainly suggests there was no foul play, with the exception of lies generated to make money. Go on, READ, then make up your own mind.

If anyone else aged about 30 did that, I'm sure they'd be arrested for paedophilia."What is your problem?. he just was energized by seeing children - people still not contaminated with prejudiceand with all oportunities ahead of them - be worryless and have fun.Your mind is just too dirty. And tonisaparasite (!) and Dangerous Marsupial: thank God you are not the ones making laws of judging people. Otherwise A LOT of innocent people would be in prison...Don't be so irresponsible and do a little research (beyond The Sun and The News of the World please) before you say something like that.Oh, and we're talking about 1982. Michael was not "over 30". He must have 23 or something.
