Fans of Fulham FC are planning a demonstration at the unveiling of a new statue of Michael Jackson in London tomorrow (April 3).

The monument is due to be unveiled outside the club's Craven Cottage stadium before their Premier League clash with Blackpool.

The late, self-styled King Of Pop visited the ground in 1999 as he was a close personal friend of chairman Mohamed Al Fayed.

However, fans of the Cottagers have reacted angrily to the shrine - which depicts Jackson draped in ammunition belts - and are planning a protest before the match, reports The Guardian.

David Lloyd, editor of the club fanzine There's Only On F In Fulham, said that the monument is "bizarre".

"What we don't want is the ridicule that will come with it," he said.

Al Fayed has previously explained that the statue pays tribute to a "true legend", adding: "I hope that many fans of his will visit the statue from far and wide."
