The jacket worn by Michael Jackson in the 1983 'Thriller' video is being put up for auction.

In 2009 the 14-minute music video was inducted into the National Film Registry of the Library Of Congress for its cultural and historical significance. Jackson gave the jacket to his longtime costume designers Dennis Tompkins and Michael Bush, and they are now putting it up for auction, according to the Telegraph.

It will go on sale at Julien's Auction House in Beverly Hills as part of its Rock Icons auction on June 25-26, where it is expected to fetch between £123,000 and £246,000. Executive director Martin Nolan said: "It's a highly sought-after piece and it should sell extremely well. [It could] make a record for us here at the auction house, perhaps even make a record for the most expensive item of clothing ever sold from a celebrity."

Other lots in the auction include Jackson’s famous white glove, and the wig he wore at the 2009 press conference announcing the doomed This Is It series of gigs, and a fedora he wore onstage. A portion of the proceeds from the auction will benefit the Shambala Preserve, currently home to the tigers who used to live on his Neverland ranch.
