A jacket worn by Michael Jackson in his 'Thriller' video is set to go on a world tour.

The iconic red and black calfskin garment's owner Milton Verret is planning to take his prized possession around the globe to raise money for charities that help sick children, reports Associated Press.

The Texan commodities broker snapped up the jacket for $1.8 million (£1.1 million) at Julien's Auction House in Beverly Hills as part of its Rock Icons auction last month.

Verret is planning to bring in corporate sponsors to fund the tour, although no dates have yet been announced.

The jacket was one of two the self-styled King Of Pop wore during the epic 14-minute video for the 1983 single

He can be seen sporting the clobber in a scene where zombies rise from their graves and start dancing - scroll down and click below for a reminder of the iconic clip.

The video was inducted into the National Film Registry Of The Library Of Congress in 2009 for its cultural and historical significance.
