Kanye West, Jay-Z and Cee Lo Green invited to play Michael Jackson tribute concert
Gnarls Barkley singer first to sign on for Cardiff show
The list of performers wanted includes Jay-Z, Kanye West, Christina Aguilera, Justin Bieber and Usher. A statement on the website for the organisers, Global Live Events, read:
The organisers of the Michael Forever Tribute Concert are very mindful of the expectations of the fans, who have waited over two years for an event that will do justice to Michael's musical legacy. Some of the greatest names in music are already signed, and more are trying to shuffle other commitments to come on board.
The concert is provisionally set to take place on October 8 in Cardiff.
Chris Hunt, chairman of the company hosting the event, said he wanted to wait for the line-up to be confirmed before tickets go on sale.
The registration period was put on hold because we want people to know who they are registering to see. Between now and October we will be continuing to add names to the line-up so more announcements will follow. Fans of Michael’s music will get the concert they’ve been waiting for.
In 2009, a tribute show to Jackson was cancelled after the host company went into liquidation.
Last month, lawyers for Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson's doctor, called for jury isolation in the trial regarding the late singer's death. The trial date is set for September.
