A pair of silk pyjamas and a bed that were both slept in by Michael Jackson have been sold for €8,900 (£7,625) at an auction in Ireland.

According to BBC News, the late singer used both the bedclothes and the carved bed while he was a guest at Coolatore House in County Westmeath five years ago. He stayed in the house with his children in 2006 while working in a nearby recording studio, Grouse Lodge.

The bed was reportedly sold to an anonymous Irish bidder for €6,200 (£5, 313) while the pyjamas were bought by an American entertainment company for €2,700 (£2, 314). Auctioneer Damien Matthews, of the Matthew Auction Rooms, said that many of the items had far surpassed their estimated value due to their connection with the late King of Pop.

He also claimed that the singer had revealed he'd never had a better night's sleep than he enjoyed at Coolatore House, adding: "When he was leaving, he left his hat and his pyjamas as a gift. He told the owners of the house that he had had a marvellous time and that Coolatore was the only place where they had ever felt like a real family."

Last night (November 7), Dr Conrad Murray was found guilty of the involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson.

The jury's decision was unanimous as Murray, who denied giving the pop superstar a fatal overdose of the powerful sedative, propofol on June 25, 2009, after a six week long trial.

The later singer's brothers Joe and Jermaine Jackson gave their reaction to the jury's decision by claiming that "justice was served", while his sister LaToya shrieked in the courtroom as the verdict was read out. Fans outside were also heard chanting "guilty, guilty".

Murray has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced on November 29. The 58-year-old physician is expected to face up to four years in prison and lose his license to practise medicine.
