Michael Jackson's former doctor Conrad Murray has been placed on suicide watch in prison, according to reports.

The LA Times reports that the order was made by a judge just hours after Murray was convicted of the involuntary manslaughter of the late King Of Pop earlier this week (November 7).

They claim to have been tipped off by an anonymous law enforcement source – who could not reveal their identity as they were not allowed to publicly comment – that Murray was placed on suicide watch at the LA County Jail, where he has been remanded in custody and will remain until he is sentenced on November 29.

The jury were unanimous in their decision to find Murray guilty this week. He had denied giving the pop superstar a fatal overdose of the powerful sedative propofol on June 25, 2009, after a six-week trial.

The late singer's brothers Joe and Jermaine Jackson gave their reaction to the jury's decision by claiming that "justice was served", while his sister LaToya shrieked in the courtroom as the verdict was read out. Fans outside were also heard chanting "guilty, guilty".

The 58-year-old physician is expected to face up to four years in prison and lose his license to practise medicine.
