Jermaine Jackson has filed a court petition to change his name.
Michael Jackson's older brother is asking a court to allow him to change his famous surname to become Jermaine Jacksun, AP reports. He filed a name change petition this week (Tuesday, November 6) in Los Angeles, writing that he wanted the new identity for "artistic reasons".
Jackson's friend Steve Dennis, who spoke to AP on the singer's behalf said: "Phonetically, it changes nothing." He added: "It is something he has chosen to do, and it's fair to say that you cannot blame this one on the boogie, you've got to blame it on the sunshine," he said referring to the Jackson 5 track 'Blame It On The Boogie'.
A court hearing to decide whether Jackson will become Jacksun is scheduled for February 22, 2013 in LA.
Meanwhile, other members of the Jackson family continue to debate the legitimacy of Michael Jackson's will, with his sister Janet saying the singer could not have possibly signed the forms in LA on the date given, June 7, 2002, as he was staying with family friend Al Sharpton in New York at the time.
