Michael Jackson's nephew, Taj Jackson, has hit out at choreographer Wade Robson for claiming that he was abused by the late singer.

Robson was interviewed on US TV yesterday and told host Matt Lauer that Jackson was "a pedophile and a child sex abuser". When asked to elaborate on his comments, Robson - who appeared in Jackson's music videos for 'Black Or White', 'Jam' and 'Heal The World' during the early years of his dance career - claimed that Jackson "performed sexual acts on me and forced me to perform sexual acts on him".

As Entertainmentwise now reports, however, Taj Jackson has now defended his uncle from the allegations and claimed that Jackson had provided him with a "support system" when he had suffered from sexual abuse.

In a series of Tweets, he wrote: "What people will $ay and do for money and to $tay relevant is sickening. De$perate times call for De$perate measures #money. I will not sit back and let someone lie about my uncle. PERIOD."

He added: "I am writing these words knowing that the minute I press send, my life will never be the same afterwards... I was sexually abuse[d]. By an uncle on my mom's side of the family when I was a kid."

"My uncle [Jackson] was a support system for me and my mom. He wrote a letter to her that many have seen already, u just didn't know what it was about. That is how I KNOW Wade is lying. Because I AM a survivor."

It was reported earlier this month that Robson had made a fresh allegation of sexual abuse against Jackson, contradicting evidence he gave at Jackson’s 2005 trial. The details of Robson’s claims have been sealed by Los Angeles’ probate court after they were filed last week.

Jackson stood trial for child molestation charges in 2005, centred around a 13-year-old cancer survivor who frequently visited his Neverland Ranch. He was also charged with plying the boy with alcohol, conspiring to abduct, extort and falsely imprison the child and his family. During the trial, a Neverland housekeeper testified that she saw Jackson and Robson showering together during a visit in the early 1990s. He was acquitted on all counts.

Tom Mesereau, the lawyer who successfully defended Jackson in the trial, has described Robson’s claims as "suspicious", coming at the same time as the start of the trial of Jackson’s wrongful death case. Jackson’s mother and children are currently suing concert promoter AEG Live in a £26 billion civil trial.
