A bent spoon Michael Jackson once gave to his friend Uri Geller has sold for £500 at auction.

Jackson presented Geller with the spoon when he served as best man during the celebrity illusionist's wedding vow renewal ceremony in 2001. The spoon contains a message written in pen by the famous spoon-bender: "7 March 2001 M.J. gave me this spoon. Uri Geller".

The auction took place at The Flowing Spring pub in Oxfordshire on Saturday (August 31) and all proceeds went to a local charity, Thames Hospicecare. Landlord Nick Willson told the BBC: "Michael Jackson's spoon went to a local person, but I reckon it could easily re-sell for much more as it's quite a unique item that has international appeal."

Other music-themed lots at the auction, which raised over £6,500 for Thames Hospicecare, included a canvas print personally donated by Kate Bush, a drum skin signed by all five members of Deep Purple and a signed photo of Jon Bon Jovi.

Jackson's friendship with Geller was well-documented and the celebrity illusionist famously took the late superstar on a trip to Exeter City Football Club in June 2002, during which Jackson was made an honorary director of the club.
