Miley Cyrus broke down in tears last night playing a Fleetwood Mac tribute to her pet dog, who died on Tuesday (April 1). Watch footage of the performance above.

Speaking to fans who were invited to watch the singer sound-check before her gig in Boston last night, she revealed that she was grieving for the late Alaskan Klee Kai, Floyd, Metro reports.

"I'm sure you guys already know, but the reason that I’m so upset is my dog, I shouldn’t say he was my favorite but he was my favorite, he passed away," she told the audience.

"I just wanna do a song for him. We used to always listen to Fleetwood Mac together, it's his favorite song…so I wanna do this song for Floyd. This song is 'Landslide'."

The singer wept throughout the performance, and also cried again when performing a cover of Lana Del Rey’s 'Summertime Sadness' and 'The Scientist' by Coldplay.

Addressing fans on Twitter before last night's show proper, she wrote: "I'm sorry in advance if I am not myself tomorrow Boston. I will try my best to be my best."
