'Gangnam Style' singer Psy: 'My next single will be in English'

Internet sensation also speaks of pressure of following up his popular hit

'Gangnam Style' singer Psy has revealed that the next single he releases will be in English.

The South Korean has become an internet sensation due to the success of the track, which has racked up nearly 300 million views on YouTube and inspired a host of online spoofs. The track went on to top the Official UK Singles Chart last weekend (September 30), outselling its nearest competitor by 26,000 copies.

Speaking to Newsbeat, Psy spoke about his future plans and revealed: "The second single is going to be in English. And the thing is, it's too much pressure to overcome 'Gangnam Style'. It's really hard.

“The problem is my music video is more popular than I am. That's a big problem for me right now, so I've got to overcome my music video first," he added. "I've got to come to the UK, I've got to go everywhere to promote myself, who I am and what I've done for 12 years in Korea."

Discussing the response to his newfound fame in Korea, meanwhile, he added: "Everybody is describing me as a worldwide phenomenon, so especially for Korea, they are thinking of me as representing our country for the new history, for the K-pop history, so they are cheering a lot here."

Previously, Psy claimed that he was struggling with the responsibility of being his country's most famous musical export and said he was being watched "like an Olympic gold medalist". Despite its popularity, meanwhile, 'Gangnam Style' took on a sinister tone earlier this week after it emerged that the track had been the http://www.nme.com/news/various-artists/66283]inspiration for a gun battle between two rival gangs in Bangkok. Nobody was hurt.
