Missy Elliott's 'GET UR FREAK ON' has been named single of the year by NME and NME.COM's writers.
The track knocked Kylie Minogue's 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' into second, while Strokes' breakthrough 'The Modern Age EP' into third.
Missy Elliott was a resounding first place in the annual Top 50 with her Timbaland produced track.
Other tracks in the Top 50 include Outkast's 'Ms Jackson' at six, Destiny's Child at 11 with 'Bootylicious', New Order at 18 with 'Crystal' and Avalanches at 28 with 'Frontier Psychiatrist'.
