Timbaland has revealed that he and Missy Elliott are close to releasing new music together.

Missy Elliott has not released an album since 2005, when she put out 'The Cookbook'. However, according to producer Timbaland, at least one new single is ready to go whenever she is ready to release it.

"It's on her. She got the first single, it's just a matter of when she wants to do it. We got the hollow-tip bullet in the gun. We have the game-changer right there," he told Rolling Stone. On the subject of how the new music sounds, Timbaland continues, "It's something you ain't never heard Missy do. It sounds today, but the future."

In February of this year, Missy Elliott confirmed she would return to music but did not put a date on when fans can expect to hear from her. "When I create something, it’s gotta be special, and it can't just be to throw something out there," she said. "I gotta feel like what I'm giving the fans is 100 per cent and that it's game-changing. I don't just throw out microwave records."

Timbaland's recent work has included production credits on Justin Timberlake album 'The 20/20 Experience' and Jay Z's 'Magna Carta... Holy Grail'. He was also invovled in the posthumous Michael Jackson album, 'Xscape'.
