Rain threatens but doesn't arrive

Modest Mouse gave the crowd just what they wanted as the sun set over the final day of Lollapalooza.

The band played a cornucopia of crowd-pleasers that kept audience members dancing, crowd surfing and tossing beach balls around throughout their set.

"How are you doing?" frontman Isaac Brock asked, and the audience roared back in response.

Clouds gathered and rain threatened, but it never materialised. "The sky has been gracious enough not to open up," Brock said.

Johnny Marr's impressive guitar work brought life to several songs from their recent album 'We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank', including 'Fire It Up' and the hit single 'Dashboard'.

"Johnny's part of the family now," Brock told NME.COM before their set. "He's in it for the long-haul."

Brock added that he was glad to be back in Chicago, where he used to live. "Tomorrow I'll roll around town and visit old haunts, including where I got my jaw broken a long time ago."
