Mogwai announce new album is ‘finished’

Mogwai have announced that their new album is finished in a very brief statement.

In a posting on the band’s official website mogwai.co.uk, singer Stuart Braithwaite revealed they have finished work on the follow-up to 2003’s ‘Happy Songs For Happy People’, however they seemed more interested in American politics.

“I see that there has been a riot in Ohio after the black population of Toledo took exception to a "police supervised" Neo-Nazi march,” Braithwaite said. “I'm actually watching American news and they are talking about the rights of the Nazi's to march and blaming "gangs" for the violence!”

He continued: “Last week a black man was punched repeatedly in the head by the New Orleans Police officers, an act that was caught on camera and shown internationally. People wonder why the world is incredulous at America's righteous crusades in Iraq and beyond. You couldn't make it up.”

Signing off the post, the singer added: “Our album is finished.”

Mogwai will also be playing two gigs in Scotland in aid of the mental health awareness charity One In Four next month.
