Scots band are watched by My Bloody Valentine and Dirty Pretty Things

Mogwai were joined by a special guest as they kicked off the Summer Series of outdoor shows at London’s Somerset House last night (July 12).

The Scots post-rockers, playing with a surround sound system in the venue’s courtyard, welcomed vocalist Aidan Moffat, formerly of Arab Strap. About halfway through the set. He took lead vocals on 'Are U Still In 2 It?', a track he also sung on Mogwai's 1997 debut LP 'Mogwai Young Team'.

Mogwai, watched by My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields and Dirty Pretty Things' Didz Hammond, played a career-spanning set which included favourites like 'Come On Die Young', 'Hunted By A Freak' and 'Friend Of The Night', which was their first Top 40 hit, reaching 32 in early 2006.

As well as the surround sound, Mogwai's set-up featured an impressive light show, with green strobes lighting up the courtyard, which is situated on The Strand just by the River Thames.

The Summer Series continues tonight (July 13) with a show from Kasabian.

The full list of remaining dates is as follows:

Guillemots (15)

Lily Allen (16)
