Mogwai headline T In The Park

Band play loud but sparsely-attended set to close festival

Mogwai headlined the King Tut's Wah Wah Tent at T In The Park tonight (July 12), with a loud, if sparsely-attended set.

The Scottish post-rock band played a selection of tracks that spanned the length of their career, culminating in a viciously heavy rendition of 'Batcat' from their last album 'The Hawk Is Howling'.

'I'm Jim Morrison, I'm Dead' went down particularly well with fans, with graceful piano lines from multi-instrumentalist Barry Burns blending into the barrage of noise provided by guitarists John Cummings and Stuart Braithwaite.

The Glasgow band weren't very chatty, except for Braithwaite thanking the crowd profusely between each song.

The King Tut's Wah Wah Tent was less than half-full for the duration of the set, but the noise made by those present was such that it wasn't noticeable.

Despite the band remaining almost motionless throughout, the likes of 'Hunted By A Freak' and 'I Know You Are But What Am I?' were played at full intensity.

Mogwai destroy Blur in every single way. Blur are just style over substance, while Mogwai are everything they aren't. If you honestly think Blur are better, you deserve to be neutered you hipster douchebag.

Mogwai's witless "blur are shite" t-shirt posturing is about as interesting as they get, and that's not very. They have prog aspirations and punk ability, which MEANS that THEIR two DIMENSIONAL quiet-LOUD repertoire IS almost AS annoying, UNINSPIRING and PREDICTABLE as SOMEONE who ALTERNATES their PROSE with UPPER and lower CASE typing BECAUSE they THINK it COMPENSATES for A lack OF originality IN their WRITING style.

kahlo, I can tell you one way Blur destroy Mogwai...lyrics. So there. Not sure liking Blur defines Cluntman Mike as a hipster though.
