UNFINISHED MONKEE BUSINESS

The '60s pop legends are back - Well, nearly all of them...

'60s cartoon popsters THE MONKEES are set to reform for a US tour in 2001.

Although no dates have been fully confirmed, three members of the original group, Davy Jones, Mickey Dolenz and Peter Tork are set to commence a 15-city 'Monkee Mania Returns 2001' tour in March - according to Reuters. It is unclear whether Mike Nesmith will be taking part.

The Monkees were created in the '60s for a US television series that was then broadcast across the world. They achieved success throughout the period with songs such as 'Daydream Believer' and 'I'm a Believer'.

The group eventually split in 1969, but reformed for reunion tours in 1986 and 1996.

David Fishof, who was responsible the band's previous reunion tours, said: "I went back with it because I really feel there's a market for them. The time's right."

If the US tour is successful, there are plans to extend the tour across the world. It is anticipated that one of the shows will also be filmed for a television special.
