Morrissey made a surprise appearance in London at the weekend when he went to a gig by up and coming band The Boyfriends.

The singer turned up to the capital’s Metro Club on Saturday (February 18), initially catching the end of the set by support band Swimmer One, causing mayhem amongst the audience.

The Mozfather left after ten minutes because he was getting mobbed, but returned via the fire escape as The Boyfriends played, watching them from the door.

Morrissey has a history of championing young bands - particularly ones of a similar sensibility to him - famously watching Suede at the Camden Falcon before they shot to fame in 1992.
