Radio 1 reacts to Morrissey’s comments
Morrissey
The station deny they are ageist
Radio 1 has responded to Morrissey’s suggestion that the radio station is ageist.
The singer made the comments on Tuesday night (April 18) on the opening night of his tour in support of his album ’Ringleader Of The Tormentors’ in Greater Manchester.
However, speaking to NME.COM today a spokesperson for Radio 1 said: "We don't decide what we will play based on the artists age, but we look at whether the track is something our listeners would be into. Colin (Murray) and Edith (Bowman) have actually played the track.”
A recent Number One, ‘Ringleader Of The Tormentors has provided Morrissey with his third solo album chart-topper.
