Morrissey cancels the rest of his UK tour

More London O2 Academy Brixton shows are pulled

Morrissey has cancelled the remaining tour dates of his current UK tour because of illness.

The former Smiths singer's two shows at the London O2 Academy Brixton, which had been set to take place tonight (May 29) and tomorrow (30) have been pulled, it was announced today.

The news follows other cancellations across the UK, as Morrissey follows doctor's orders to recover from a throat illness.

A statement on behalf of the singer explained: "Morrissey is on continued doctor's orders not to sing."

In the statement fans were advised to hold on to tickets, and await details of possible rescheduled gigs.

Morrissey did manage to play a show in Manchester last week (May 24) on the day of his 50th birthday.

morrissey jus dont bother, just go away!! nicky wire has a prolapsed disc and STILL manages to do the manics tour, how come moz was able to do manchester? but not london, this has gone on for his last three tours, he should be made to pay back every fan that paid for hotels and travel for his gigs, now everyone knows not to book a london morrissey gig from now on! the man hasn made anything decent since he was in the smiths anyway, if you ask me hes just a waste of space and i see why damon albarn wrote the song 'charmless man' about him. RETIRE AND GO MORRISSEY

Made up piece of pop trivia of the day: 'I can see why damon albarn wrote the song 'charmless man' about him'. For that you are a goon. However, I can understand if you're upset having paid for hotel, travel etc, but if that's not the case then why waste your time being upset?Viva hate.

So Morrissey should have played the gigs and permanently damaged his voice then? Is that what you're saying? You're an idiot. The fact that you aren't able to appreciate the man's talent proves that you are, unmistakably, a complete moron.

Nicky Wire plays bass... Morrissey is the front man. If the front man is ill, the show will suffer.

It's amazing how much stick the man get's.He's ill he can't sing what do you want the man to do smash he's vocal chord's to bit's.People would only say ''well he should have not gone ahead with the gig's until his voice was at 100%''.Also to say he hasn't had a decent single since The Smiths come on really suedehead,Last of the famous,Irish blood,First of the gang, come on be honest.Charmless man has nothing to do with Morrissey and without him Albaurn probably wouldn't be a where he is.

JMBrilley, you ignoramous. Comparing Nicky Wire's bleeding prolapsed disc to Morrissey's voice problem is so very staggering in that you have totally missed the point. What do you think Morrissey should do? Go on and do a little dance? Maybe mime the whole set? Go on and sing and damage his voice further?Asking Morrissey to retire is so pathetic it doesn't actually deserve comment - more the fool me, then. And, to add insult to your injury, Charmless Man wasn't about Morrissey... "back at the old grey school, I would win and you would lose" (look it up).

JMBrilley - First of all son, no-one is asking you, and second of all you need to get your facts right. Charmless Man wasn't about Morrissey at all. Listen to the lyrics mate.

JMBrilley, shut your mouth you half wit! He can't help being unwell, the man is a legend, cut him some slack! And how the hell is "Charmless Man" about Moz? Could it be the "educated the expensive way" line? Nah don't think so. And since when has Moz ever been charmless? JM, I don't know you, but I really, really hate you, you sad little idiot.
