Morrissey has allegedly demanded the cancellation of a show from Glasgow band PAWS, who were due to be playing the same venue at the same time as him because he didn't want "any live music to be heard" during his set.

PAWS were scheduled to support We Are Scientists at The Observatory in Orange County, California, last night (May 8) - where Morrissey was also set to perform.

In a Facebook post before the show, which has since been deleted but has been posted by Brooklyn Vegan, PAWS hit out at the singer, calling him an "ego maniac acting like a baby throwing toys from a pram. To satisfy his little power hungry brain."

Both shows went ahead in the end however, and in a long Facebook statement posted today (May 10), PAWS clarified the situation, writing:

"Early this afternoon (Thursday May 8th) as we were travelling from San Francisco to Santa Ana to play a show tonight at Constellation Rooms with We Are Scientists, we received a call from the promoter/venue telling us that Morrissey, who was also due to play a show tonight in the larger room at the venue, had requested that no live music be heard during his set. SO, in order to adhere to curfews, this would mean that we couldn’t play our opening slot as it would clash with Morrissey's and We Are Scientists’ headline show would be cut short and heavily delayed (until after Morrissey’s show)."

Morrissey is yet to comment on the accusations.
